BAYSTAR HOTEL GROUP CONVERTS LAKE BUENA VISTA HOTEL TO HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS

TAMPA (Dec. 16, 2005) — Tampa-based BayStar Hotel Group, LLC has purchased the former Radisson in Lake Buena Vista and converted it into a Holiday Inn Express. The Holiday Inn Express – Lake Buena Vista, located at 8686 Palm Parkway in Orlando, began serving guests yesterday (Dec. 15.)

The 200-room, seven-story hotel in Lake Buena Vista Center near Disney Village is the closest Holiday Inn Express to Disney World, according to BayStar’s CEO George Glover. “It’s ideal for value-conscious leisure and business travelers,” Glover added. “Kids will love the great lagoon-style pool with its 10-foot water fall and slide.”

BayStar removed an unprofitable restaurant and bar and created 2000-square feet of much-needed meeting space. Bright, tropical colors on the walls and floor gave the reception area and hallways a livelier resort feel.

BayStar purchased the Radisson for $12 million on Sept. 15. “We invested nearly $2 million updating the property and bringing it up to Holiday Inn Express standards,” Glover said.

The revamped hotel sports the Express Start breakfast bar with SmartRoast 100% Arabica coffee and warm signature cinnamon rolls, prepared with an exclusive recipe developed just for the Holiday Inn Express brand, as well as fruit and cereal choices along with selected low-carb and protein options.

All guest rooms offer the SimplySmart™ bathroom that was introduced to the Holiday Inn Express brand this year. This upgrade features a multi-function, Stay-Smart Showerhead by Kohler that compensates for water pressure challenges. Other bath amenities are thick, 100-percent cotton towels, cotton loop bath rugs, curved shower curtain rods for more space, and a sleek new line of cinnamon-scented bath accessories.

Business travelers will enjoy large desks and ergonomic chairs, free high-speed Internet access in each room, two phones with private voice mail, and free local and 1-800-number telephone calls. Guests earn Priority Club Reward points that can be redeemed for merchandise, airline miles or free room nights at more than 3,500 hotels in nearly 100 countries.
