BayStar Hotel Group has opened the Hotel Indigo – St. Petersburg Historic Downtown District after converting a 1920s-era Heritage Hotel. The Tampa Bay area’s first Hotel Indigo began welcoming guests under the Indigo brand on Feb. 27, 2009. The industry’s first branded boutique hotel, Hotel Indigos artfully blend the design cache and service personality of boutiques with the conveniences, consistencies, and Priority Club-style benefits of a hotel brand.

Owners
Bay Star Hotel Group is a privately held, Tampa-based hotel company that acquires, develops and operates hotels throughout the Southeastern United States. Its principals are Chairman George Glover, President Ford B. Smith, and Chief Financial Officer J. Norman Giovenco.

What is Different
  • Guest rooms have hardwood floors with area rugs, signature floor-to ceiling murals, a spa-style shower, clock-radios, CD players, flat screen TVs, and coffee makers.

  • Seasonal renewal. Like retailers change out their display windows, the Hotel Indigo’s public spaces will be transformed seasonally through aromas, music, artwork and directional signage.

  • Within easy walking distance of art galleries and museums, Bay Walk, an open-air shopping plaza featuring a 20-screen movie theater, restaurants and bar, Vinoy Park and Tampa Bay with its renowned pier featuring shops, restaurants and an aquarium.

  • The Hotel Indigo delivers an experience that touches all five senses. The use of pure, versus muted, colors, the placement of custom-designed and large, comfortable pieces of furniture and the general layout create a sense of belonging and tranquility to help offset the fast pace of travel for the guests.
