BAYSTAR HOTEL GROUP NAMES VANCE HAWKINS GENERAL MANAGER OF HOLIDAY INN CAPITOL EAST

TAMPA (Feb. 2008) —Vance Hawkins has joined BayStar Hotel Group as general manager of its Holiday Inn Capitol East. Previously, Hawkins served as GM for the Holiday Inn Express at Indigo and for the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, both in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Active in the hospitality industry since the 1980s, Hawkins managed numerous properties throughout Illinois, Florida, Tennessee and Texas, including such brands as Ramada, Sheraton, and Hilton as well as Holiday Inn. His experience encompasses food and beverage and he has also owned and managed restaurants.

Hawkins majored in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Central State University in Edmond, Okla., and has been active in the hospitality industry throughout his career. He served on the board of directors of the Hotel Motel Association in Volusia County, Fla., an adjunct instructor at Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Fla., and has held high-level volunteer positions in the Convention and Visitors Bureau in Melbourne, Fla and the Tourist Development Council in Sebring, Fla.
