Fact Sheet
Prepared October 2008
What?
BayStar Hotel Group is developing the Hotel
Indigo-Channelside in downtown Tampa, Fla. This is
Tampa’s first Hotel Indigo and the industry’s
first branded boutique hotel. Hotel Indigos artfully blend
the design cache and service personality of boutiques with
the conveniences, consistencies, and Priority Club-style
benefits of a hotel brand.
Who?
The Hotel Indigo-Channelside is being developed under a
joint venture partnership, Seaboard Hotel Associates, LLC,
comprised of Tampa’s BayStar Hotel Group and the St.
Petersburg, Fla.-based Ballast Point Group. Ballast Point
plans to develop apartments and retail across the street at
Cumberland and 11th Street, creating a mixed-use urban
community.
What is Different?
- Guest rooms have hardwood floors with area rugs,
signature murals, a spa-inspired shower, clock-radios, CD
players, flat screen TVs, coffee makers, and signature
indigo blue telephones.
- Instead of an imposing lobby desk, an open
surfboard-shaped table, gives a more open feel and allows
staff to move around and to better assist guests.
- Seasonal renewal. Like retailers change out their
display windows, the Hotel Indigo’s guest rooms
undergo periodic changes of their murals, area rugs and
slip covers. Public spaces will be transformed seasonally
through aromas, music, artwork and directional
signage.
- The Hotel Indigo delivers an experience that touches
all five senses. Using the universal design of the Golden
Mean
http://www.redwoodeditor.com/content/Intercontinental/indigo_ipk,
the décor conveys a warm, welcoming environment. The use
of pure, versus muted, colors, the placement of
custom-designed and large, comfortable pieces of
furniture and the general layout create a sense of
belonging and tranquility to help offset the fast pace of
travel for the guests.
